Gold bars weighing 3.67 kgs and worth Rs 1.15 crores were seized by revenue intelligence officials from a 25-year old Keralite on his arrival at the airport here from Sharjah, police said today.
The gold was found kept concealed in a heavy steel roller in the baggage when the officials intercepted M Amalraj (25) of Ernakulam and carried out a search based on intelligence inputs recently, they said.
The man was arrested and produced before a court which remanded him to 15 days judicial custody, they said, adding he was a conduit.
Investigations were on to catch the kingpin of the smuggling racket, the police said.
