Arunachal Pradesh Governor Lt Gen (Retd) Nirbhay Sharma has exhorted the scientists and faculty of the National Institute of Technology (NIT) here to carry out research that is relevant and useful to the state.
Addressing the institute's students and faculty members at its temporary campus at Yupia yesterday, the governor urged them to emphasise on research related to hydropower and environment, a Raj Bhawan communique said here today.
He encouraged the faculty to concentrate on these subjects so that the NIT becomes a partner in the state's development.

Referring to his recent visit to border districts, Sharma asked the NIT to address the challenges related to computer knowledge in those areas and to train teachers in those districts.
He also brought up the issue of solar energy, which he said should be made economically and commercially viable, the communique added.
