Tamil Nadu Government has formed a 11-member committee representing various officials to take part in the talks with the 11 transport trade unions over their demands including wage revision.
A government order has been issued in this regard fulfilling an assurance given by Transport Minister Senthil Balaji during talks with the trade unions following which they called of their three-day old indefinite strike on Dec 31.
The Committee to be headed by Transport Minister, would comprise of Additional Secretary, Finance department, Managing Director of Metropolitan Transport Corporation, State Express Transport Corporation along with its district units, according to the Government Order.
The strike affected thousands of travellers, particularly office and school goers, with a large number of buses remaining off the road and forced to take up other modes of transport.
