Govt job for killed SI's father

The West Bengal government has promised a job to the father of the sub-inspector who was killed by alleged supporters of the GJM chief Bimal Gurung today in a forest near Darjeeling, where Gurung was supected to be hiding.

West Bengal police sub-inspector Amitabha Malik's father would be provided a job at the state school department, state education minister Partha Chatterjee said.

"This is a very sad incident. Police will do the needful as per the rules for his wife. And since his father is not that old we have decided to provide him with a job at the school department," Chatterjee said.
 

Rs five lakh will be given to the bereaved family from the Chief Minister's Fund, the minister added.

According to CMO sources, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee had spoken to the dead police officer's father in the afternoon.

Chatterjee along with another minister and Director General of Police Surajit Kar Purakayastha will receive the police officer's body at the airport tomorrow, the sources said.
