Prices of gram and kabli gram spurted by up to Rs 500 per quintal at the wholesale pulses market today on speculative buying triggered by paucity of ready stocks in the market against rising demand from retailers.
Traders said speculative buying, driven by tight stocks position in the market on restricted supplies from producing regions against rising demand from retailers mainly pushed up gram and kabli gram prices.
They said, however, government's measures to curb rising prices capped the rise.
