Two groups belonging to different communities today clashed over some minor issue in the communally sensitive Shahpur area here, police said.

The clash broke out after an altercation broke out when a biker hit a pedestrian near Delhi Chakla area this evening, police said.

"After the biker hit the pedestrian both the sides called their kith and kin. Soon, people gathered and started throwing stones at one another, which led to a traffic jam for some time," Shahpur Police Inspector B J Gadhvi said.

Following the altercation, people from both the groups indulged in stone pelting. Police rushed to the spot and controlled the situation, the officer said.

When the police were alerted about the incident, Gadhvi and his team rushed to the site.

"On spotting the police, members of both the groups dispersed immediately. Nobody was injured and no property was damaged in the clash," he said.

So far, we have not registered an FIR, as we are still in the process of identifying the people involved in it. The situation now is completely normal in that area, Gadhvi said.

Further investigation is on.
