Guj CM inaugurates office of Non-reserved Class Commission

Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani today inaugurated the office of the State Non-Reserved Classes Commission, which the government had promised to set up for catering to economically-backward among upper castes in the wake of Patel quota stir.

"As we had promised earlier, we have today opened the office of this Commission which will study the situation of families of non-reserved castes and formulate various policies for their upliftment," Rupani told reporters.

"As many as 58 castes come under non-reserved category and they will benefit form this commission," he said.

The state government has allocated Rs 506 crore for setting up the Gujarat State Non Reserved Classes Corporation (GSNRCC) in the Budget 2018-19, he said.

 

The GSNRCC will implemented various schemes formulated by the commission.

The government has assigned 21 staffers for the commission, as per a government release.

In view of Patel quota stir, the government had promised to form a body for the economically weaker sections among the unreserved category before the 2017 assembly polls.
