Gur prices tumbled by Rs 400 per quintal at the wholesale gur (Jaggery) market in the national capital today following increased supplies of new gur in the markets.
Muzaffarnagar and Muradnagar gur markets also ended lower with prices diving up to Rs 450 per quintal on dumping of new stocks in the markets.
Marketmen said apart from subdued demand from stockists and retailers, huge stocks position following arrivals of new gur into the markets, mainly led to the fall in prices.
In Delhi, gur pedi prices plunged by Rs 400 to finish at Rs 3,100-3,200 per quintal, similarly dhayya prices plummeted to conclude at Rs 3,400-3,500 from Rs 3,800 per quintal.
Prices of Chakku also slipped by Rs 200 to Rs 2,800-3,000 per quintal.
At Muradnagar, gur pedi and dhayya prices dropped from Rs 3,225-3,250 and Rs 3,250-3,300 to Rs 2,750-2,800 and Rs 2,900-2,950 per quintal.
Coming to Muzzafarnagar, prices of gur chakku declined by Rs.150 at Rs.2,500-2,650 per quintal.

Gur chakku 2,800-3,000, pedi 3,100-3,200, dhayya 3,400-3,500 and shakkar 3,500-3,600.
Muzaffarnagar: Rasket 2,650-2,700 chakku 2,500-2,650, khurpa N.A. And Ladoo N.A.
Muradnagar: Pedi 2,750-2,800 and dhayya 2,900-2,950.
