Gur prices slide in Delhi on ample ready stocks, weak demand

Press Trust of India New Delhi
Gur prices declined by Rs 200 per quintal at the wholesale gur (jaggery) market in the national capital today following huge position of ready stocks on regular arrivals amid limited offtake by stockists and retailers.

However, prices at Muzaffarnagar and Muradnagar gur markets ended quiet in thin trade.

Marketmen said mounting of ready stocks on constant supplies from manufacturing belts amid reduced offtake by stockists and retailers mainly pulled down the gur prices in Delhi.

In Delhi, gur Dhayya prices slipped by Rs 200 to end the day at Rs 3,200-3,300 per quintal.

Gur Pedi also moved down by Rs 100 to Rs 3,000-3,100 per quintal.

Following are today's rates (in Rs per quintal):

Gur chakku Rs 2,900-3,000, pedi Rs 3,000-3,100, dhayya Rs 3,200-3,300 and shakkar Rs 3,500-3,600.

Muzaffarnagar: Rasket Rs 2,450-2,500, chakku Rs 2,550-2,950, khurpa Rs 2,600-2,650 and Ladoo Rs 2,850- 2,900.

Muradnagar: Pedi Rs 2,800-2900 and dhayya Rs 2,900-2,950.
