The 72-hour strike by around two lakh employees of Haryana Government and semi-government bodies entered second day today affecting normal life in the state, with the administration filing cases against some strikers for violating prohibitory orders.

Defying prohibitory orders and warning of disciplinary action, nearly two lakh employees of the state government, boards and corporations, under the banner of Haryana Sarv Karamchari Sangh (HSKS), began their 72-hour strike on the intervening night of January 20 and 21, demanding abolishment of contractual system and outsourcing of work.

HSKS general secretary Subash Lamba said the protesters staged demonstrations at several places across the state, and in some parts power supply had to be suspended duo to the strike.

He said power supply was affected in Kurukshera, Jind, Kaithal, Faridabad, Karnal, Rohtak and Mewat districts.

Meanwhile, the Haryana government took "stern action" against employees found guilty of "sabotaging the supply of electricity", an official spokesman said.

In this regard till now 32 FIRs have been registered against persons responsible for intentionally disrupting the supply of power in various districts, he said.

The spokesman said all-out efforts were being made to take strict action against the guilty persons.
