With a view to encourage farming of Kharif onion in Haryana, the state government has decided to provide 50 per cent subsidy on the onion seed.
The subsidy has been fixed at Rs 500 per kg or 50 per cent of purchase price, whichever is lesser.
The farmers will be provided 12.5 kg seed of Kharif onion per hectare per farmer. This subsidy will be given on first- come first-served basis and will be applicable till the availability of subsidy amount, an official release said here today.

Farmers can obtain the seed of different varieties of Kharif onion from the centres of Haryana Seed Development Corporation by depositing their share of amount.
For getting the subsidy, the farmers have to bring their identity proof like Aadhaar card along with its xerox copy, it said.
