Haryana government will soon launch a state-wide special campaign for Diarrhoea control, state Health Minister said today.
Haryana Health Minister Rao Narender Singh said that under the campaign, Oral Rehydration Solution will be distributed free of cost by health workers in rural areas.
While, in urban areas, it would be distributed through the urban health centres or dispensaries, a release issued here today quoting Singh said.

The Minister said children under the age group of 5 years will also be distributed zinc tablets free of cost.
"Diarrhoea alone contributes about 12 per cent of mortality in children below 5 years of age every year. The number of deaths due to the disease usually increases in summers and monsoons," Singh said.
"Dehydration takes toll on children who are either malnourished or have poor access to healthcare facilities. Diarrhoea is preventable and its early treatment can avert majority of deaths," he said.
During the campaign, the department would generate awareness among masses through media regarding sanitation and hand washing practices, continuation of breast feeding during Diarrhoea and importance of increased liquid intake to prevent dehydration, he said.
The Health Minister said Haryana government is committed to reduce the infant mortality rate in the state.
