Have lost our Kohinoor: Saregama on Manna Dey's death

Music company today said with the passing away of Manna Dey, the company has lost its Kohinoor.

"With the passing away of Manna Dey, has lost one of her greatest musicians and its priceless Kohinoor," Sanjiv Goenka, Ltd chairman, said.

"A great artist, Manna Dey stood like the incomparable Qutab Minar and we at Saregama gratefully recall his contribution to music and pay our humble tribute to a great artist who was also a great human being," he said.

The relationship with HMV (now Saregama) began in 1953 when Manna De cut his first album with HMV.

Out of total 3043 songs in all languages sung by Dey, 2264 songs were Saregama India releases and 741 were in Bengali and 1260 in Hindi.

Saregama said the last Bengali album was 'Thik Chhabir Moto' in 2006.
