The Calcutta High Court today directed CBI to investigate the disappearance of a businessman from Durgapur in West Bengal after state CID said there are indications of extremist connection in the case.

Businessman Arup Saha went missing from Durgapur industrial city in Burdwan district in April 2014.

After the state police failed to trace him, his wife Rita Saha filed a habeous corpus petition before the high court seeking a direction to the police to find him.

State CID, which was then investigating the case, today submitted a report before the court stating there were indications of extremist connection in the matter.

A division bench, comprising Justice Indira Banerjee and Justice S Munshi, on taking note of the report, directed CBI to investigate the case.

The court also directed CBI to file a report within four weeks.
