The Madras High Court today fixed November 19 for final hearing of the 'Chennai Port Maduravoil Elevated Corridor' case.
The Tamil Nadu government has raised objection to the Rs 1800-crore project, stating that it passes through the Cooum river.
When the matter came up before the the First Bench comprising the Chief Justice R.K.Agrawal and Justice M.Sathyanarayanan, Additional Solicitor General P.Wilson submitted that about Rs 900 crore had already been spent and the project is meant for the state and not to any individual or authority and sought an early date for final hearing.
Additional Solicitor General G. Masilamani, appearing on behalf of Chennai Port Trust, submitted that the project should be completed as early as possible.
Government Pleader STS Moorthy sought time as the Advocate General has to submit his arguments.
After hearing the submissions, the First Bench said it is posting the matter for final hearing on November 19.
The project envisages construction of an elevated corridor from the Chennai Port to Maduravoil bypass to a distance of 19 km.
