High-intensity lights banned around Lohegaon airport

Following complaints from the Indian Air Force (IAF) authorities that high intensity lights cause distraction to the pilots, the police have banned the use of such lights near the Lohegaon Airport here.
The use of such lights sending beams skywards is now prohibited in the 15-km radius of the airport between 6 pm and 6 am, a police release said.
Beams of high-intensity lights cause distraction for the pilots during take-off and landing, IAF authorities had complained.
"There are several hotels and lawns (used for functions) in the area which use such lights....Prohibitory orders will be in force for the next two months starting from March 7," said a police officer.
