Private sector power major Hindustan Power has tied up with top hospitals and air ambulance service providers of the country for timely transportation of patients in need of prompt medical assistance.

The company has devised an emergency response protocol and identified situations such as ailments of heart, kidney, accidents among others which require specialised treatment and are not available locally.

Under the protocol, Hindustan Power has tied up with major hospitals and air ambulance service providers to deal with emergency situations.

The initiative helped in saving lives of many company staffers and workers recently.

"The mock drills done by us over time have helped in saving lives. The rescue teams knew what was to be done and they worked in cohesion despite the chaos. We wish that emergency response measures, including air ambulances, become an industry protocol," Hindustan Power Group Head (Administration) Pravesh Talwar told.

"Total 11 ambulances were pressed into service when our staff members had to be transferred for medical treatment, after a mishap at the company's power plant," another company official said.

Many lives were saved with immediate medical attention following the mishap, he added.
