HP HC directs the DGP to supervise probe into sexual assault

The Himachal Pradesh High Court today directed the Director General of Police to supervise the investigation into the sexual assault by a teacher of a minor girl in September, 2015, who became pregnant.

The HC also asked the Director, Women and Child Development, Shimla, to provide necessary diet to the victim and at least a sum of Rs5000 per month to herfor a period of one year from today as interim measure.

"The money shall be released forthwith to the petitioner, suitable accommodation would be provided for attendants in the rest house and the SP, Sirmaur, shall give all the necessary protection to the petitioner as well as her family members", a division bench of the High Court comprising Justice Rajiv Sharma and Justice Vivek Singh Thakur said.
 

"Startling revelation has been made in the petition that the petitioner was sexually assaulted by respondent school teacher in September, 2015 and an FIR has been registered under Section 376 and 506 of IPC read with Section 4 of the POSCO Act on April 1, 2016 against the respondent", the bench said adding that the victim is in advanced stage of pregnancy.

The court arrayed the Chief Medical Officer, Sirmaur, as a respondent and directed him to provide all the medical help including free medicines till birth of the child and thereafter, adding that the "petitioner is advised admission in the District Hospital, Nahan for delivery on May 2, 2016.
