A pregnant woman was allegedly stabbed by her husband following a heated argument between the two at their Govindpuri residence in south-east Delhi, police said today.
The victim, identified as Reena (22), is battling for her life at AIIMS Trauma Centre while the husband, Amit, has been arrested following the incident, which took place on Saturday night. The couple lives in Balmiki Colony in Tughlakabad Village.
"The incident took place at around 9.30 P.M. When Amit got back home from work. An argument broke out (between Amit and Reena) and, in a fit of rage, Amit stabbed his wife with a sharp weapon on the left side of her chest before fleeing the spot," police said.

Hearing noises, Amit's uncle, who lives nearby, went to their house only to discover Reena lying in a pool of blood.
"Reena was taken to AIIMS Trauma Centre where she was put in the ICU. As per doctors, the victim is stable while the unborn child miraculously escaped the attack," police added.
A case in the matter has been registered under Section 307 (attempt to murder) of Indian Penal Code. Amit was arrested after he returned to his house on Sunday evening.
Police said they were waiting to record the victim's statement as she was not in a position at the moment to talk to officials.
