CBI today arrested an inspector of Income Tax Department here for allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 90,000 to settle an assessment matter.
In a late night operation, Inspector Jai Prakash of Income Tax department was nabbed outside ITO, CR building in IP Estate here and the bribe amount was allegedly recovered from his car.
It is alleged that Prakash has demanded a bribe of Rs 2.5 lakh to settle an Income Tax assessment matter.
As part of the deal, he had asked a person to keep the bribe amount of Rs 90,000 in his car which was recovered today in front of a witness, CBI sources claimed.
They said he has been arrested and further investigation is continuing.
Meanwhile, in a separate case in Mumbai, CBI arrested a AGM of Bank of Baroda Hari Om Sharma red handed while allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 50,000 for passing the bill of an asset recovery and management company appointed by the Bank.
