IAF physiotherapist feared drowned

An Indian Air Force physiotherapist was feared drowned in Brahmaputra river in Assam's Jorhat district.

The physiotherapist from 5 Air Force Base Hospital at Rowria near here was carried away by the river current while he, along with seven of his colleagues, was bathing in the river at Kokialamukh last evening, a police officer said.

A missing FIR was filed at the Jorhat Police Station last night after his colleagues failed to trace him following which State Disaster Management Force personnel rushed to the spot.

The SDMF personnel could not trace the airman following which army's Paratrooper Regiment launched a search operation since this morning but he is yet to be found.
 

The missing physiotherapist has been identified as 26-year-old Dharmendra Singh Rawat who hailed from Odisha.

He had married an Assamese girl from Golaghat district last year.
