An illegal slaughter house was today raided at Basehia village under Padrouna police station area in neighbouring Kushinagar district today, a senior official said.
"Information was received about an illegal slaughter house at Basehia village and a raid was carried out. Those held are being interrogated," SP Kushinagar Yamuna Prasad said.
In the raid, which lasted nine hours, police destroyed illegal structures with JCB machines and also recovered 20 quintals of meat, seven trucks of bones and animal skin, the official said.
Twelve persons were detained, he said. The recovered meat was sent for testing, the SP said adding that the slaughter house was running since a long time.
