The Federation of Tamil Nadu Agriculturists Association (FTAA) today urged the Centre to implement the recommendations of M S Swaminathan Commission to uplift the farming community.
Implementation of the panel's suggestions is the only solution to uplift the farmers, instead of giving them freebies, subsidy, concession, loans and its waiver, insurance and Income tax exemption, FTAA secretary, S Nallasamy, said in a statement here.
Why is the Centre hesitating to implement the recommendations, which would benefit 60 per cent of the population? he asked.
