Indian jailed for 10 months in Singapore

A 24-year-old Indian in Singapore was today sentenced to 10 months in prison and ordered to be given three strokes of cane for molesting a woman during New Year celebrations.

Taking advantage of the festive mood, Parthiban Pandu, molested the 44-year-old victim.

Parthiban pleaded guilty of outraging his victim's modesty just after midnight on January 1.

He was sentenced to 10 months in jail and ordered to be given three strokes of cane, the court ordered.

The incident took place in a recreation centre for foreign workers in Soon Lee Road in Boon Lay on the western industrial district of Singapore.
