Infant mortality rate declines in Puducherry

Infant mortality rate (IMR) has come down from 11 to 10 per thousand in Puducherry.

Puducherry now stood second after Goa in making its achievement, an official release said.

Good infrastructure, better health care facilities at the district hospitals, community and primary health centres, comprehensive ante natal care, intra natal and post natal attention given to the mothers and new born babies, were the chief factors responsible for the achievement, it said.
