Inter-city double-decker train between Vijayawada & Vizag soon

A new inter-city double-decker Express train will soon be introduced between Vijayawada and Visakhapatnam in Andhra Pradesh.

Railway Minister Piyush Goyal informed Rajya Sabha member G V L Narasimha Rao about this after the latter made the request two months ago.

Rao said here in a statement Thursday that the new train 'Uday' would run for five days a week.

"Hope this will go a long way in providing better connectivity to the passengers," the Railway minister said in his reply to the MP, who pointed out that it was a "long-felt need."

This is the first new Express train to be announced after the Railways decision to establish the South Coast Zone with headquarters at Visakhapatnam.

 

A trial run of Uday is currently being carried out and the formal launch date will be notified soon, according to railway sources here.
