The Maldives High Commissioner to India Ahmed Mohammed has said "intervening in the domestic affairs (of a country) is not necessarily a good thing."
"I think intervening in the domestic affairs is not necessarily a good thing", he told CNN-IBN when asked what he would like India to be doing in the current crisis in the Maldives--doing nothing or to be actually helping former President Mohd Nasheed.
Nasheed has been arrested under anti-terror law and he was today virtually dragged by security forces to be presented before the Criminal Court which ruled that the opposition leader will remain in custody until the case against him was complete.

Nasheed was arrested for allegedly ordering the arrest a senior judge in 2012 that had triggered violence in the Indian Ocean island.
Nasheed's Maldives Democratic Party asked the Maldives Prosecutor General and President Yaameen Abdul Gayoom to immediately release the leader.
The High Commissioner said India and the Maldives are much closer as neighbours and the security of Indian Ocean "is more important to us."
"Our relationship with India is special", he added.
