"The practice will be entirely done away with and strict monitoring would be done to curb the culture," he said at a high-level meeting to review the functioning of the education department here yesterday.
Chand, who was given the School Education portfolio in the recent state cabinet rejig, said all such postings would be cancelled with immediate effect and such teachers would be asked to report without delay at their respective places of duty.
"Officials have been directed to cancel all attachments in Education Department and instructions have been issued for all such officials who have been attached at different offices and schools to immediately report back to their respective place of duty," Chand said.
Pitching for effective monitoring and better performance, Chand said that Zonal Education Officers would have an important role to play.
He warned that teachers of those schools in which performance of students was below standard would be dealt with strictly.
