Jammu and Kashmir government has given its nod for setting up a 'Skill Development Mission Society' in the state to bring all departments undertaking such activities under one umbrella.
"To bring all departments undertaking skill development activities under one umbrella, the Cabinet gave nod to the creation of a separate Skill Development Mission Society, as an inclusive and dedicated structure for implementation of all skill development initiatives in the state," an official spokesman said here today.
The Jammu and Kashmir Skill Development Mission Society (JKSDMS) will work to integrate the skill development programmes of Centre and the state government in consultation and collaboration with all the concerned departments, the spokesman said.
He said the society shall have a two-tier structure constituting a Mission body and a Governing Council, and each of these structures shall have its own set of functions.
The Cabinet has authorised the Technical Education Department to approach the Registrar of Societies for registration of JKSDMS under the J-K Registration of Societies Act, 1998, the spokesman said.
He said the Cabinet also authorised State Industrial Development Corporation (SIDCO) to allot four hectares of land to the Science and Technology department for setting up Bio-Technology Park at Industrial Estate Ompora in central Kashmir's Budgam district, with financial assistance from the Department of Bio-Technology under the Union Ministry of Science and Technology.
