AIADMK chief Jayalalithaa today condoled the death of veteran communist leader and former MLA Koothakudi S Shanmugam.
"I was grieved to hear the demise of Shanmugam, founder and state chief of Lenin Communist Party," she said in a statement here.
"I convey my condolences to the bereaved family and pray for his soul to rest in peace."

A veteran Communist Party of India functionary, he was elected from Thirupatthur constituency in 1977. Later, he founded the Lenin Communist Party. He is survived by his wife, two daughters and a son.
