The Jammu and Kashmir Joint Chamber of Commerce and Industries (JCCI) today welcomed the resumption of cross-LoC bus service and trade after 17 weeks along the Poonch-Rawalakot road.

The industry chamber also suggested some measures to streamline the trade.

"The JCCI had been constantly meeting all the concerned in the government circles to get these services resumed as soon as possible because by dint of this bus service and trade at LoC points... people at large from both sides of J&K had come closer as a part of confidence building measures," its President Rakesh Gupta said in a statement here.

Thanking the Centre and state government for resumption of bus and trade services from Chakan Da Bagh in Poonch, Gupta said JCCI had earlier as well requested the state government to take necessary corrective measures to make cross-LoC trade flawless and meaningful by establishing a dedicated authority.

Digitalisation of LoC trade, enhancement of security structure, banking facility and transfer of officers at LoC points every six months to avoid any "nexus" were some other measures suggested by the JCCI to streamline the trade.

Gupta said the JCCI also urged the government not to allow traders to transact business on these points till they submit Rs 5 lakh as security deposit in registration process as has been done by more than 65 traders till now.
