Jeera prices were down by 0.99 per cent to Rs 14,525 per quintal in futures trading today as speculators cut down their holdings amid low spot demand.
In futures trading at the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, jeera for delivery in April was trading lower by Rs 145, or 0.99 per cent, to Rs 14,525 per quintal, with an open interest of 9,921 lots.
Likewise, the spice for delivery in current month shed Rs 135, or 0.91 per cent, to Rs 14,675 per quintal in 930 lots.
Marketmen said trimming of positions by participants amid subdued demand in the spot market and decline in the export against higher supplies from producing regions, led to the decline in jeera prices at the futures trade.
