Jeera futures fall 0.38% on muted demand

Jeera prices fell by 0.38 per cent to Rs 16,840 per quintal in futures trading today as speculators cut down their bets driven by easing demand at spot market against adequate stocks position.
At National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, jeera for delivery in May moved down by Rs 65, or 0.38 per cent, to Rs 16,840 per quintal with an open interest of 17,826 lots.
Similarly, the spice for delivery in June traded lower by Rs 45, or 0.26 per cent, to Rs 17,025 per quintal in 17,826 lots.
Analysts said trimming of positions by participants, owing to slackened domestic demand in the spot market against sufficient stocks position, mainly led to fall in jeera prices at futures trade.
