Jharkhand Chief Minister Raghubar Das today said the state has already announced 50 per cent subsidy on plantations in private land when Leader of the opposition Hemant Soren drew the attention of the House to cutting down of trees as old as 100 to 200 years.

Informing the Assembly on the last day of the Winter Session, Das said the government has announced 50 per cent subsidy under Jan Dhan Yozana plantation (to encourage) plantations on private land.

Das said it was not the time to discuss about loopholes, but to work for plugging them.

Intervening in a question by his Jharkhand Mukti Morcha MLA Jai Prakash Bhai Patel on plantations, Soren said trees as old as 100 to 200 years had been cut down in the name of road work and other trees were being planted instead.
