Jharkhand today celebrated its foundation day with Governor Droupadi Murmu and Chief Minister Raghubar Das fondly remembering Bhagawan Birsa Munda on his birth anniversary.
Paying tributes to the freedom fighter, the governor said Bhagawan Birsa Munda had sacrificed his life for the nation.
The Chief Minister said Bhagawan Birsa Munda imagined a society free of exploitation, corruption and fear and called upon taking a pledge to accomplice it.
Jharkhand, which was carved out of Bihar on November 15, 2000, is celebrating the day with a slew of foundation stone laying ceremonies and inaugurating developmental works and programmes.
