Jharkhand Governor Droupadi Murmu today said that the media has a significant role in the dissemination of information on various welfare programmes being taken up by the government.
Discussing with media representatives over development projects and their impact in the areas covered by the 5th schedule at the Raj Bhavan here, Murmu said that the media "is in direct touch with the people and knows about the real situation".
A Raj Bhavan release quoting her said that 15 years have passed since the creation of Jharkhand and several development works were taken up and more being taken up.

Stating that several pieces of suggestions have been received on acceleration of developmental works, the Governor said she would make field visits to take stock of the development work going on and completed and would meet the people.
The Governor has already met legislators on the issues pertaining to the 5th Schedule and will meet social service activists and officials.
