Jagadeesh Marine Exports (JME), involved in the field of aquaculture, today said it is trying to develop West Godavari district in Andhra Pradesh as a "aqua hub".
"We are urging to develop West Godavari district as a aqua hub as it consist of a large coast line and many sea products are available," JME MD T Jagadeesh told reporters here.
However, there is a need to develop transport facilities connecting to other parts of the country so as to export products in time.
He said there were no health hazards in cultivating the marine products and that the company follows international regulatory standards.
"There are no health hazards or relating problems to health in cultivating marine export products. We commit to the highest quality and implement stringent quality norms that meet all international regulatory standards, to deliver a quality product," Jagadeesh said.
"At present, our products are being exported to Japan and Europe. The company has an annual turnover of Rs 19,000 crore in export of marine products like shrimps from JME, Bhimavaram," he said.
He said that JME uses Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) in addition to strict adherence to the Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point (HACCP) which is aimed at managing and controlling all the potential hazards at various levels of processing, packaging and storage.
