Opposition Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) today supported the suggestion that states should enact their own legislation for acquisition of land.
"It should be left to the state as there are issues to be addressed like local problems and local structures," JMM working president Hemant Soren told reporters here.
The state has previously suffered losses because of Centre's decisions regarding matters of land acquisition, Soren said and added that people were against the BJP-proposed legislation.
"The Centre's decision (on matters related to land acquisition) led the state suffer losses in the past and it will again face loss in the future... The people across the country are protesting the Bill," said the former chief minister.
