Joachim Ronning in talks to direct Jolie's 'Maleficent 2'
"Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales" helmer Joachim Ronning is in negotiations to direct Disney's "Maleficent 2."
Angelina Jolie will return in the title role, reported Variety.
Jez Butterworth and Linda Woolverton are penning the latest draft with Joe Roth producing.
The original centered on an evil fairy who cursed an infant princess to eternal sleep, only to realise the young girl was the only one who could save the kingdom from its dangerous ruler.
Production on the sequel is set to start in early 2018.
