Comedienne Joan Rivers died from lack of oxygen to her brain during her throat surgery, the New York City medical examiner revealed.
Rivers died last month aged 81 after suffering a cardiac arrest. Earlier, autopsy was said to be inconclusive but now the official cause of the TV host has been found, said The Hollywood Reporter.
The manner of death is therapeutic complication, which means that the death resulted from a predictable complication of medical therapy, spokeswoman Julie Bolcer said in a statement.
Rivers' daughter Melissa said in a statement, "We continue to be saddened by our tragic loss and grateful for the enormous outpouring of love and support from around the world. We have no further comment at this time.
