A private news channel journalist and a cameraman were today allegedly beaten up by the Chief Commercial Manager (CCM) of East Central Railway Mahboob Rab and his men at the railway junction here and both parties lodged FIRs against each other.

ETV news channel journalist Neel Kamal and his cameraman Rahul Kumar alleged that they had gone to Patna junction to cover reports of fleecing of money from passengers by some railwaymen and as soon as they began beaming live broadcast, Rab and his touts stopped them from discharging duties.

Rab and his men shouted at the journalist-duo and asked them to leave the place else they will be booked for preventing government servants from discharging duties, they alleged.

As soon as the two journalists left for parking to catch their vehicle, Rab and his touts surrounded them and allegedly beat them up, they claimed.

Both the parties later lodged FIRs against each other at the GRP, Patna.

The ECR CPRO Arvind Kumar Rajak described the incident as unfortunate and said that a probe has been ordered by the ECR General Manager Madhuresh Kumar.

"Whatever happened between the journalists and railwaymen, including the CCM, is unfortunate. Our GM has taken note of the incident and ordered a probe," he said.
