Jubilant Industries today said its subsidiary has decided to temporarily discontinue manufacturing of single super phosphate with immediate effect, due to unfavorable market conditions.
"... Considering the unfavorable market conditions, the management of the company's material unlisted subsidiary, Jubilant Agri and Consumer Products have decided to temporarily discontinue the operations of its manufacturing facility... Engaged in production of single super phosphate with immediate effect...," Jubilant Industries said in a regulatory filing.
Last month, the Tata Chemicals had also decided to suspend production of soil nutrient DAP at its Haldia plant in West Bengal and would supply the fertiliser to customers from its inventory and imports.
According to the industry sources, the prices of DAP and SSP have crashed in the international market. And therefore the domestic production has become unviable because of cheap imports.
