Kashmiri Pandits today celebrated "Vitasta Divas" popularly known as the "Vitasta Triyodesi" on the bank of Ranbir Canal here that featured floral tributes to the river Goddess and "deep visarjan".
Panun Kashmir, an organization of displaced Kashmiri Pandits, observed the auspicious day on Ranbir Canal's bank, a tributary of Chandrabhaga, sister river of Vitasta.
Several delegations, including the women wing of Panun Kashmir participated in the celebrations.

While the Panun Kashmir team was led by its national spokesman, Virender Raina in paying floral tributes to the river Goddess, the "deep visarjan" was performed by members immersing ceremonial lamps in the canal.
Also known as "Veth Traveha", "Vitasta Triyodeshi" is celebrated every year by the Pandits in Kashmir as the birthday of river Vitasta, which is considered as Goddess Vitasta, a manifestation of the Goddess Parvati.
