The Kerala government today rejected a proposal to set up aided hospitals on Public-Private Participation model.

Replying to a calling attention in the Assembly on the matter, Health and Devaswom Minister V S Shivakumar said the government thrust was on strengthening government hospitals with additional infrastructure and providing modern facilities.

"The idea of aided hospitals with government spending on private participated government project is not acceptable and government has no such plans," he said to a motion moved by K N A Khader (IUML).

Khader said it was necessary to have hospitals on PPP route to make the health care sector in the state more extensive and efficient.
