Key 'ecstacy' ingredient worth Rs 35 lakh recovered

A 40-year-old man was arrested and pseudo-ephedrine - largely used in the manufacture of party drug 'ecstacy' was recovered from his possession, police said today.

The possessed 5 kg of pseudo-ephedrine is worth around Rs 35 lakh in the international market, they said.

The accused, identified as Mohammad Kabil, was arrested yesterday from near southeast Delhi's Okhla mandi area, on the basis of a tip-off, and around 5 Kg pseudo-ephedrine worth around Rs 35 lakh in international market was recovered from his possession, said DCP (Southeast) MS Randhawa.

Kabil, who has been booked under relevant sections of NDPS Act, told the police that he used to procure the drug from a Ghaziabad-based doctor, who the police are now looking for, said police.
 

Kabil was a seller of Ayurvedic medicines and allegedly resorted to drug trade to earn quick bucks, police added.
