Nine children who escaped from a madrassa in Gujarat's Bharuch district were found by the Railway Protection Force (RPF) and handed over to the non-governmental organisation Childline.

According to RPF Sub-Inspector Anil Kumar, the children were found sitting in Dehradoon Express S-6 coach looking frightened at the Meghnagar railway station after which he asked them to get down from the train and brought them to Ratlam.

RPF police station in-charge Rajesh Parmar questioned them after which they revealed that the madrassa head used to beat them and force them to do other menial jobs.

Parmar said that the kids belonged to Bihar's Saharsa district's Bijaalpur village.

The police has informed their parents and until they arrive here the children would stay with Childline, he said.
