Lt Governor Anil Baijal today directed the Delhi Development Authority (DDA) to lay more emphasis on social infrastructure and services in the city while planning developmental works.

He also asked the DDA that planning should be used as an enabling instruments for planned development of the national capital.

These directions were issued at a meeting at the Raj Niwas to review the functioning of Planning Wing of the DDA. The L-G chaired he meeting.

In the meeting, Baijal said all plans must ensure that economic lifelines are considered core for sustainable city development.

"The L-G asked officials that provision of services and social infrastructure must be invariably incorporated while making plans for redevelopment of areas," the L-G office said in a statement.

He exhorted the DDA to develop social infrastructure such as sports facilities, green areas, biodiversity parks, flyovers etc to assist the decongestion plans for Delhi.

Baijal said that since the master plan has to be a dynamic instrument, a review of the provisions of civic amenities as per the estimated increase in the population should be undertaken.
