Normal life was disrupted in many parts of western Odisha during a bandh called by lawyers demanding setting up of a High Court bench in the region.

Shops, business establishments, offices, educational institutions, courts, banks and petrol outlets remained closed in about eight districts in response to the dawn to dusk shut-down called by Central Action Committee of Western Odisha Lawyers' Association.

The 12 hour bandh passed off peacefully without any untoward incident reported from anywhere, police said.

Train services were affected for sometime in places like Sambalpur and Rourkela as the agitators blocked the tracks, sources said.
