Lead prices were up by 0.34 per cent to Rs 161.40 per kg in futures trading today as traders raised their bets on the back of uptick in demand from consuming industries in the spot market.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, lead for delivery in November was trading higher by 55 paise, or 0.34 per cent to Rs 161.40 per kg in business turnover of 39 lots.

Likewise, the metal for delivery in October edged up by 45 paise, or 0.28 per cent to Rs 160.45 per kg in 2,494 lots.

Market analysts said increased positions built up by participants amid pick-up in demand from battery-makers in the spot market mainly led to the rise in lead prices at futures trade.
