Leopard dies during treatment

A leopard rescued from a loop of barbed wires at the Indian Military Academy here died during treatment, officials said Wednesday.

The leopard had to be tranquillised before being rescued but it died during treatment, Divisional Forest Officer Rajiv Dhiman said.

Pieces of flesh and tufts of hair were found in the body of the big cat during post- mortem which are being sent for examination, he said.

The exact cause of the leopard's death is not known yet, he said.
